About Amber

Owner Amber Kostelny-Cussen has been serving the Chicago area as a professional organizer since January 2004. She is a Certified Professional Organizer® and specializes in residential organizing. She especially enjoys getting to know her clients to customize the organizing to their lifestyle. Helping people enjoy their homes and creating productive work spaces is very rewarding to her. Aside from hands-on organizing, she enjoys writing organizing articles and researching organizing products and systems to better serve her clients. She also keeps busy by giving presentations at local clubs, churches, mom’s groups, and public libraries.

Amber earned her B.A in international business at Taylor University in Indiana. Before starting her own business, she worked in various administrative and bookkeeping positions. She currently resides in River Forest with her husband and cat Sandy. When she’s not organizing she enjoys swimming, running, cooking, traveling, and spending time with family.

Amber is an active member of the National Association of Professional Organizers (www.napo.net) as well as the local Chicago chapter (www.napochicago.com). Amber’s Organizing, LLC is licensed in and registered with the Village of River Forest. Amber’s business has grown quickly over the last year which has enabled Amber to add team organizers to her services. These organizers are insured, some are certified, and all are active members of the National Assoc. of Professional Organizers. They organize on their own with clients as well as help out on larger projects in a team setting.

 Our Philosophy:

Stuff has innate power in your home and office. Getting organized is about reclaiming the value of your space and devaluing the stuff that’s residing in it. When organizing, you have to constantly ask yourself, which do I value you more- this item I want to keep OR the space and serenity I get when I get rid of it? The more stuff in your home and life, the more responsibility and time it takes to care for all of it. As you let go of things, you’re reclaiming your time and space. Along with that, you’re regaining its’ power and your stuff no longer has a hold over you.
