A mother’s cry for help for her disorganized daughter
Topics
Recently I was emailed by a concerned mom. Her grown daughter is slipping down the path to more and more piles which is leading to more and more stress for her and her grandaughter, who lives inside the mess. What should she do? It is a tough situation, and doesn’t allow for an easy pat answer. Her daughter has to desire help and change. It does no good for the mom to push her daughter into getting help or nag her daughter. Tone of voice and attitude are essential to keep in check when talking to a family member about changing or getting help. Lastly, I encouraged her to ask her granddaughter to verbalize her feelings to her mom, for everyone to be honest about the situation. Once the mom is on board with getting help from a professional organizer, the east part begins. The hard part takes someone changing their values, desires, & time to reach their organizing goals.
