Is the Organizer Organized?

I get this question a lot- Is your home organized? Is your office organized? What do you do Amber? etc.... The answer is yes, I am organized and my home is organized- but it’s definitely not perfect. Most everything is pretty put together and “looks” organized. I think the areas that get messy the fastest are my office and bedroom/closet. When I’m busy or tired, those are the first to suffer.
But my husband and I like to say “We live simply"- meaning, we don’t buy a lot of stuff so we don’t have a lot of stuff which means there’s not a lot of stuff to keep organized. I always tell this to my clients- the more you bring into your home the more you have to manage, take care of, and keep organized. So having less is really gaining more.
Here are 5 things that really keep me organized:
1. Clean surfaces. Having clear spaces make me feel better and less stressed.
2. Labeled containers. Little pieces, items, and junk drive me nuts so if it’s categorized in a labeled container it makes life easier for me.
3. Clearing my desk every day. Just like my clients, I get a lot of paper and mail. At the end of each work day, I tidy up my desk to make sure the paper that’s out, has to be out. The rest is pitched or filed.
4. Cleaning out my email inbox. A lot of emails stress me out so I try to touch them only once- either delete, file, schedule it or act on it.
5. Finally, making my bed. I love crawling into a neat bed after a long stressful day.
