Simplifying Christmas Card Sending
Topics
I’ve started my Christmas cards early this year as I always do. I also always do my cards in stages. That way I’m not overwhelmed by the process. I send business holiday cards out -about 150 , and personal cards- about 50 or so. So here’s my method in keeping it simple, organized, and easy.Oh, by the way, I like the old fashioned Christmas cards (like a greeting card) not the one glossy photo type.
Step 1. Shop for the cards the year before. This year after Christmas I’ll get next years cards. So just last week I pulled out cards I had bought last year. That made it simple.
Step 2. One one day, take out your return address labels. I know you have a ton- usually all my clients have sheets and sheets of them in their junk drawers. In front of the news or a Christmas movie just label all the cards with the return address labels.
Step 3. The next day, pick out your picture. I went into my computer’s files, looked through my organized photo folders, pulled one I liked and sent away my order on www.snapfish.com.
Step 4. On another day, pick up your photos and choose another evening to attach the photos to the inside of the card. I had both “insert” cards where you can slip a photo right in and regular Christmas cards. So using Scotch doble sided tape, I attached the photos inside onto the blank left side of the regular cards.
Step 5. On another day, address the cards. I pulled out my address book and wrote my personal address down on the envelopes. I’ll use Avery labels that sync right up with my Outlook for my business Christmas cards.
Step 6. Finally you’re ready to sign and seal them. This process can be arduous. So break it down to 10-20 per evening. Get the kids to lick them shut or better yet, use a glue stick.
The trick behind my whole method is to break down all the steps onto different days. I make progress little by little and eventually I’m done and my cards will be sent out on time!
