Many moms ask how much memorabilia is okay to keep and how they should store it. First, there’s no magic number of how much stuff to keep but having seen a lot of moms store things- some a lot and others not that much I think I have a pretty good idea of what is common practice among moms. There’s more to memorabilia then people realize- some save their baby’s first tooth, lock of hair, onesie, baby shoes, crib sets, toys, piggy banks, report cards, kindergarten paintings and drawing, and the list goes on. I’ve even seen many moms keep their pregnancy kits that showed them they were pregnant. Nothing surprises me. However, I think us moms forget that our kids probably won’t want much of what we are saving. So here’s my rule of thumb- keep only the extra special stuff- like a straight A report card, the teddy bear they couldn’t sleep without, their favorite books, etc. I think you get the point. And here’s what I suggest for each child: 1 large plastic tub/or container from Target and 1 flat artwork/paper container from Schoolfolio.com
