Offices

In the last week, I’ve been in two home offices with either the wrong type of furniture or very little office furniture. Here’s what I recommend for the average office ( and remember this can vary depending on size and your budget.) Of course, a good sturdy desk is first on my list. It should have a medium to large surface/workspace and drawers are a must- none of this framed out plain table. With what I call a framed table, there will be no where to stash business cards, pencils, ear buds, cd’s and the piles of other stuff that land on our desks. Secondly, a 4 drawer tall or a 2 drawer lateral filing cabinet. The 4 drawer tall cabinets are good if you don’t have a lot of space and they’re perfect to use up corner space. Never place them in the center of a wall- always a corner. And if you like lateral, stick to a 2 drawer lateral. A 4 drawer lateral makes you feel like your in a doctor’s office- they are so huge and cumbersome. Thirdly, get a bookshelf. Books and binders constantly float around an office as well as pictures of family or an award you won. Get a nice sturdy tall bookcase and load it up. Finally, purchase a small credenza or sideboard. Atop will sit your printer, scanner, copier machine and below can hold letterhead, office supplies and any other misc. supplies.
