Leave time for the Hard Stuff

Most people dread organizing their jammed packed attic, garage, storage space, or basement. But having organized many of these “tough” spaces over the years, I don’t think the first half of the process is really that hard. It’s the back half- let me explain. While organizing these spaces, we’re constantly sorting into piles- paper recycling, books for the library, antique shop, projects, donations, etc. The list is endless. At the end of sorting out all this stuff into all these piles, then the hard part begins- you might have to sweep out or clean the space, schedule time to get the projects done, call 1-800- Got Junk, research where to recycle a few things, call that neighbor or family member to come get there stuff, and make a million trips to the garbage cans. This is the back half of the process that people don’t follow through on. So, here’s the lesson I’ve learned, leave plenty of time AND energy to make the back half really count. Don’t leave any loose ends unaccounted for and really finish the project - completely.
