As I was organizing today I thought of a new way to keep on top of organizing and purging your home or office through out the year- use your community recycling and collection dates as your accountability partner! For example:
- Keep your files updated and the piles on your desk to a minimum by scheduling your local shredding events on your calendar. Now you’ll have to get through those drawers and piles before the event occurs.
- Next time your village or suburb has a toxic waste day, clean out the old chemicals in your garage, basement and in your storage closets. Don’t forget to set those dates on your calendar in advance.
- The same goes for electronic recycling events- this is becoming more and more popular because people are ditching old computers and TV’s more frequently.
- And finally, plan on donating boxes books for your local library or school book sales. (these usally occur during the summer)
Some local Chicago recycling websites we like are www.bookrescue.org, www.swancc.org, and www.earth911.org
