Organize instead of Shop

Topics

Closets

By now you’ve dug out all your tanks, T-shirts, skirts, and shorts. Before you run out to do some summer clothes shopping, organize first. It may just save you money or even a trip to the store. In a recent research study, Standford University in California, found that just by rearranging and organizing clothes in a closet, one can find more satisfaction with what options are present- thus eliminating the need to make new purchases or at least reducing the amount of new purchases. So have it, try:

  1. rearranging where you hang or place things- change drawers, i.e. put your socks in your underwear drawer and your underwaer drawer in your pajama drawer, etc. OR hang your suits to the left if they are normally are on the right.
  2. Try color coding your clothes- it works for stores like the GAP. We love seeing the T-shirts lined up in a rainbow of colors
  3. Hang your clothes in categories instead of outfits- jackets, blouses, shirts, pants, jeans, etc.
  4. Use bells and whistles- your belt organizer, a scarf organizer, etc. You’ll be able to accessorize a otherwise “blah” outfit in seconds by throwing on a snazzy belt, pin or scarf.
  5. Finally, instead of keeping 10 boring brown pairs of shoes, why not just keep the 3 that you love, look good and feel great. Eliminate the excess that never gets worn anyways. It’s all about streamlining.
