Swap Parties- The New Thing

Topics

Recycling

In the last week I’ve read several newspaper articles and watched segments on the news about “swap” parties and groups. As people watch their nickels and dimes because of the slow economy, they are becoming resourceful in finding gently used or new items from their friends and neighbors. How it works: a group of people- moms, friends, or family members, gather in a home or community location to swap their items with each other. Their can be rules such as: for as many items you bring, you can take OR you can only swap like items- clothes for clothes, shoes for shoes, etc.

This Swap idea is also happening online such as www.swapstyle.com and even books are being swapped online www.swappaperbacks.com. I think it’s a fantastic idea. My only thought is that you should be swapping with people that are in your same stage of life or that have your taste/size. It would be hard going to a mommy swap party if you have no kids, etc.

What about you? Have you been to a swap party? Are you going to have one?
