Organized Athletes

Just yesterday, I completed my first sprint triathlon- a 1/2 mile swim, a 12 mile bike ride and a 3.1 mile run. It was a ton of fun. On Saturday I went to register my bike and my packet, etc. They had talks through out the day for first time triathletes. So I sat in on the 3pm talk. After the presentation, the announcer introduced a woman who owns her own business www.trifaster.com and coaches people through the training for a triathlon. She had done 300 triathlons and would give us more inside tips if we stuck around. So I was hooked and wanted to hear what she said. You would not believe the first tip she gave- BE ORGANIZED! She told us the that being organized on race day and even the night before race day is super important. She recommended writing out a plan, a packing list, and packing in a very organized fashion. There are a lot of things to remember for race day - goggles, bike helmet, swim cap, racing belt, towel, socks, shoes, etc. Being disorganized can give an athlete a frantic, stressed, and unsettling race experience. How true that is!

If you’ve ever completed a triathlon, what’s been your experience? How did you make sure your race day and race would be a success?
