The Organization Aisle

Shopping for Organizing Products

Nearly everyone I meet enjoys going to office supply stores and stores that sell organizing gadgets. There’s something about seeing all the organized items, organized neatly on store shelving. Everything has its place, neatly labeled or perfectly itemized and stored—the complete opposite of most of our homes. Right? Then there are stores like Target or Home Goods and Marshall’s. The all have home organization aisles; those aisles always draw me in. Just walking down the aisle, makes me feel more organized. Perhaps you can relate?

Unfortunately, the same people that love the organization aisle or store, also find it overwhelming and difficult to know exactly what they need, how they would use it, and what would work in their particular space back at home. Sometimes we, including myself, overspend because something might fit at the store but doesn’t meet our needs at home.

The solution?

Write a specific list! Write down the dimensions of the storage space. It might be the inside of a drawer, cabinet, closet, or shelving unit. Determine the area in your home which is the top priority, then stick to that area in the store and bypass every other section which does not apply. Finally, make it even easier on yourself. Shop online. Two websites I really enjoy are www.organize.com and http://www.organizecayman.com/. The organize Cayman site is pretty new but I think they have really creative, helpful products. Which websites do you like to shop for organizing products?
