Organizing School and Activity Paperwork
Organizing paperwork that comes home from school activities and park district sports programs can seen overwhelming and annoying but processing and storing them is actually pretty simple. I’ve sifted through countless kids paperwork with moms and each and every time we come up with three distinct categories. Each category is put into a file folder in a hanging folder. Each child should get their own color as well. So here’s an example of how it would look and the types of paper that each would contain.
Sarah- School (information on the school, class list, calendar, homework, report cards, etc.)
Sarah- Activities (ballet info, soccer schedule, band practice information, etc. )
Sarah- Health (immunization records, doctor’s information, health forms for school )
David- School (information on the school, class list, calendar, homework, report cards, etc.)
David- Activites (football tryout info, basket ball camp form)
David- Health (immunization records, doctor’s information, health forms for school )
We normally place these categories in a file box on top of the kitchen counter or we put them wherever the mom processes paperwork and mail. I suggest establishing a command center somewhere in the kitchen. The kitchen is the action center of the house and it’s easy to quickly process paper at the kitchen table or on the counter. Here’s an example of a counter top box.
