Quick Picture Hanging Tips
Often while organizing, I run across framed artwork or pictures piled up in a closet or leaning against a wall. Although hanging pictures might sound like a daunting task, it really doesn’t have to be. All it takes is the right tools and a few minutes. Shani Abrams and Jane Berlowe, owners of Room by Room Re-Design in Skokie, IL give us these three tips.
1. Before you even begin to hang anything on your walls, make sure you have the proper tools: a hammer, picture hooks, a pencil, a tape measure, and a level. Planning ahead can make a big difference in the final outcome and save you a lot of time and aggravation.
2. You can see how the arrangement will look by placing each piece on the floor and trying various configurations. Visually line up the pieces from the bottom, top or sides, to achieve a grid like pattern. When you achieve your desired result, determine where on the wall your pieces will go. Now you’re ready to begin.
3. Frames come in a multitude of colors, sizes, shapes, and styles. To unify your arrangement , consider using the same matter and frame colors. Sizes can be the same or varied. For a more eclectic look, choose all different style frames, but in the same color. Also for more of an impact consider an over-sized frame with a much smaller image at it’s center.
