Neighborly Advice

A Good Example of Getting Things Done

My neighbor’s son recently shipped off to Afghanistan. My husband and I went to going away party and wished him farewell. We’re proud that he is going to represent and stand up for our nation. Recently, I was shoveling. My neighbor was out shoveling as well and we got to talking. He was explaining that he used some of our garbage can space because he’s “spring cleaning” since his son left. Inwardly I thought to myself, that’s a great way to pass them time but then I said “It’s not spring yet. We’re shoveling snow.” He said, “Why wait? Start early so I can play later. “ That makes sense and that’s the real spirit of organizing!

What we put off today, we have to do tomorrow. The clutter, piles of laundry, dirty dishes, unfinished projects, and cobwebs in the basement aren’t going to magically disappear. His attitude is exemplary. Why not do what you can with the time you have now? Seize the free moments in your day, week or month and be productive. Since I last saw my neighbor outside, we’ve seen a plumber’s van outside, a hardwood floor specialist and marble/tile truck pull up. I say: Go get ’um! Good job!!
