How to Change out Purses Fast and Easy
I’ve seen the inside of a lot of closets during my organizing days. Two things always prove true: women love purses and women change out their purses often. This poses a problem. Coins, business cards, lipsticks, tampons, receipts, pens, and random contents hang out at the bottom of purses and rarely get cleaned out. When we’re organizing, we end up going through the purses and contents. Ninety percent is usually thrown out.
I see only two solutions to the probelm. The first solution I propose is always clean out the contents of a purse completely. Whether you change your purse out daily, weekly, monthly, or based on the season, empty out every pocket and compartment before switching to the new purse. This isn’t usually done because it’s not easy to transfer twenty, thirty, even fifty small items.
So the next question is how do we make that step easy? How do we make the transfer seamless to the next purse? That’s the real question. I suggest two rules to follow. First, don’t treat your purse like a backpack. It’s not meant to hold everything you own. Set boundaries and be selective in what you decide to toss in there. Keep it just to the basics- a wallet, keys, cell phone, pens, mints or gum, sunglasses, and chapstick. There’s not too much else that’s absolutely necessary. The second rule is I’d like you to follow is use pouches and cases to prevent items from floating around and getting lost within your purse. That’s the best way to prevent mass chaos. If you keep receipts and they don’t fit in your wallet, have a designated ouch for them.
I try to to glance in my purse at the end of each day to make sure only the basics are taking up space. Just like you, I’ll have a busy day and end up tossing in random items. It quickly fills up so I try to take those random items out daily. I clean out my wallet weekly, making sure only the receipts I need for returns are present.
