6 Tips to Consider While Organizing the Kitchen Sink
The cabinet under the kitchen sink in my opinion is probably the hardest part of the kitchen to organize. Pipes and the garbage disposable always make it tricky to maximize the space. It’s always dark and sometimes damp. Nine times out of ten, it’s jam packed with plastic grocery bags and cleaning products. Don’t under estimate all that you can fit. With the right maneuvering, this space can be pretty helpful. To start out, take everything out and assess what you’re storing under there. Before putting items back, try these tips to use the space more efficiently.
- Don’t try to store every cleaning product under the sink. Just keep kitchen cleaners. If you have a pedestal sink in your nearest bathroom, you may need to keep one toilet bowl cleaner and one bathroom cleaner here.
- Use the inside space on the cabinet doors. A plastic bag holder will catch bags instead of letting them float around. Plastic wrap and foil may also fit. Try this plastic wrap organizer .
- Avoid keeping glass jars, random lids, and containers. It’s tempting to finish a jar of jam and think you may need the jar. Attempting to keep these is taking up precious space and cluttering things up.
- Measure carefully if you’re going to add risers, shelves, a sliding shelf or a pull out garbage can system. Let your pipes be your markers when measuring.
- Consider buying multi surface and multi purpose cleaners. These will cut down on the amount of cleaners you need to keep on hand, thus saving you more space.
- Corral rags in a small basket or under sink drawer. Washing these regularly will help eliminate the dust and grime to build up.
